These words are from the heart (not from AI).

I am 68 years old, warm-hearted and kind, gentle in spirit yet fiercely protective of those I love, physically and emotionally healthy and resilient, generous and forgiving, a lifelong explorer of traditions and practices related to healing and wisdom, a Buddhist meditation practitioner and teacher, father of two wonderful adult children, dog lover (but allergic to cats), health oriented (via diet, exercise, and science), politically left, with a quirky and silly sense of humor, introverted but still social, optimistic, financially secure, and retired.

I have been a widower since my beloved Gail died from cancer 5 years ago. I gave myself unlimited time and space to grieve in a natural and unforced way with no pressure to "get over it".

I was previously married for 18 years to the mother of my children. Divorced since 2008, my former wife and I have a cordial relationship. I have a 33-year-old son and a 31-year-old daughter. No grandchildren yet.

Caring for loved ones through their final days emphasizes how precious, uncertain, and time-limited our lives are. Work and family matters have required much of my attention and energy in recent years. Now, I find myself in a phase of life in which I have the breathing space and resources to live as I choose.

I am ready to be a fully present and loving partner once again. I want a full-time committed relationship in which we share a home and co-create a life together, sharing the full range of what life has to offer. The joys are more joyful, and the tears are easier to bear when I have a partner with whom to share them.

I’m not looking for perfection in a partner, and I cannot offer it. We all have strengths and weakness. I want us to celebrate what is wonderful and work together through any challenges that arise (inevitable when two imperfect human beings come together). It is our mutual commitment to honesty and kindness that will carry us through difficult times and remind us that love is our true nature.

I often find that I relate very well to people with whom I share a deep interest and dedication to exploring the inner workings of the human mind and heart. If you, like me, have explored psychotherapy, meditation, yoga, and any number of experiential workshops and trainings, I would love to know more about your journey and evolution.

Because life can be so serious at times, having a sense of humor is essential. Also, I find that a mutual desire to express love through physical touch is vital to living a joyful life.

I believe that shared values and perspectives are more essential to true compatibility than whether we like doing the same activities. That said, I truly enjoy cycling, concerts, walks in the woods, meditation, cooking plant-based & gluten-free meals, snuggling with my beagle dog Max, time with my kids, kayaking and swimming in beautiful lakes, visiting the Cape Cod National Seashore beaches, playing my ukulele and singing, teaching meditation, and traveling in my very comfortable and well-equipped RV. I read a lot about healthy lifestyle choices and technologies. Being committed to self-care is important for health, longevity, and happiness.

We have more years behind us than ahead of us, and I want to make the most of the time we have. Also, I recognize that we will have the privilege of caring for each other as we age.

Important: After 34 years in Northampton, I recently moved to a beautiful lakeside home in the wooded hills of Westhampton. I truly feel at home here in this natural setting, and I cannot imagine being willing to move. I am no longer a city person. Also, I have lots of experience with long distance dating, and I am now reluctant to date anyone who lives an hour or more from my home unless there is a mutual desire to spend most of our time together in this area. I realize this might make the dating process more challenging if you have a home elsewhere that you love.
